Translation

Translated from the Spanish source, which is the normative text. Status: draft pending human review. Differences are resolved in the Spanish text.

Choose a methodology

Start with the problem you need to solve. ASILO sets action boundaries for systems built with artificial intelligence (AI) assistance; MILPA organises project knowledge; SCAFFOLD manages the project and coordinates engineering work with assistants.

  • ASILO

Boundaries and security of systems built with AI

    Action boundaries

Define what a system built with AI assistance may do, which data and permissions it uses, and how to check its boundaries.

Example: an assistant proposes order changes, and a person reviews critical actions.

Prepare context, data, effects and checks; if there is an agent, also declare its scope and permissions.

  • MILPA

    Knowledge and provenance

    Knowledge and provenance

Identify what is known, where it comes from, what authority it has and who is responsible for it.

Example: a team needs to distinguish a fact from a hypothesis before making a decision.

Prepare sources, claims and their owners.

    Accepted edition: 0.1

  • SCAFFOLD

Software projects with people and AI assistants

    Software project management

Manage the whole project, from framing to delivery: work, crews, branches, environments and releases; with one person and one assistant or with several crews.

Example: a team writes the project charter, orders its work list, assigns an item to a crew of agents and delivers it in a release with its rollback plan.

Prepare a project charter, a work list, write zones, batches, branches and declared environments.

    Accepted edition: 0.2

How they differ

ASILO addresses the system's action boundaries. MILPA addresses the knowledge needed to reconstruct a decision. SCAFFOLD addresses software project management, from framing to delivery.

You can combine them: MILPA establishes the sources for a task, ASILO bounds data, permissions and effects, and SCAFFOLD organises the work, its division among crews and its path to production. The examples are fictional.

First step

Choose a small task, identify the expected result and prepare the relevant records. The application guide walks through that process.

Consult the glossary when a term is unclear. The SCAFFOLD status record records acceptance of edition 0.2 and the amendment excluded from it; editions preserve the history.

The descriptive names state each method’s scope; they do not expand its acronym. See the visual guide.

A multi-agent architecture is not required. AI scope distinguishes model interactions, assistants and agents and explains when each requirement applies.

The analogy map brings together shelter, polyculture and scaffolding, with their sources and limits. You can contribute a review or sanitized case.
